Katherine Steiger - Artist Statement In my paintings, I am inspired by color, ornament, and the beguiling beauty of the world around us. The ever changing glories of nature, whether the delicate hues of Spring or the dramatic tones of Summer invest my work with a sense of well-being and bounty. The simplest subject matter can be filled with a wealth of personal emotion. In capturing the decorative character of an apple or a rose, I can record the abundance of Nature and celebrate the " here and now". It is a victory, however temporary over the unknown. It is my goal to bring others this same joy and feeling of thanksgiving in our daily life.
