Stephen Yates - Biography Yates was born (1952) and raised in Idaho. He graduated High School and started college in Boise, transferred and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts - Painting from the University of Oregon, Eugene (1978) and went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Kansas, Lawrence (1980.) Soon after graduate school he moved to the Port Townsend, WA. area and has lived there since. He has exhibited widely in 30 solo exhibits and over 125 group exhibits. His artworks have won a number of awards including an Artist Trust Fellowship and his paintings are in numerous collections including Microsoft Corporation, the City of Seattle, the City of Portland, OR., the University of Washington-Cascadia Community College, Bothell, WA., Evergreen State College, Overlake Hospital, Bellevue, WA., Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup, WA., Norm Dicks Government Center, Bremerton, WA., Kitsap Government Building, Port Orchard, WA., Marriott Hotels, Hilton Hotels, La Costa Resorts and Hyatt Hotels.
